Meal Planning Is Such a Chore
Though I enjoy cooking, I think it’s mainly because I enjoy eating! Who’s with me? Since I love food so much, I really don’t like to have the same meals over & over. So, I search for new ideas and each week try to plan out diverse, delicious meals.
2 Recent Discoveries Have Changed My Life
Dramatic, right? Really, it’s true though. The first is a meal planning chart from Magnolia. As in, Joanna Gaines uses it! Why would I not want to use the same tools as her???
Just having a cute template has given me some motivation to sit down & write out our meals for the week. I even use a special pen to feel creativity & inspiration!
Say what?? If I can be completely forthright, I don’t like Walmart & avoid shopping there at all costs. Gasp! It’s never been a pleasurable shopping experience, I can’t easily navigate the aisles, and I’m often concerned about my children’s safety.
But recently, my friend Jenny (from Naples, not from the block….. I’m so funny to myself) told me about Walmart Grocery. You can order all of your groceries, including many organic items, from their very user friendly webstore. I’ve also just recently downloaded their app on my phone, & it is very easy to navigate too. You choose your store (this is not everywhere yet so hopefully you have one close to you!), then choose your pickup time. The times are in 1 hour increments, starting the following day, but they also allow you to choose days in the future.
Usually about 10-20 minutes before the beginning of my pickup hour, I get a call from an employee saying that my order is ready. When I arrive, I park in the designated grocery pickup area, and call their number to let them know I’ve arrived. They carry everything out to my car. If there were any items that they didn’t have exactly what I ordered, they substitute with something equally as good or better. But, they charge you the price you originally paid! Your other option is to refuse the item, in which case they take it off your charges.
One question I’ve gotten is how they pick out the fruit & vegetables. The sweet girl who has brought my groceries out several times said that in their training, they are taught how to look for produce that is at just the right ripeness. If ever something was wrong on my order, or maybe I didn’t like how the produce looked, I could just call them & they would adjust it for me.
So, there you have it, I’ve been converted! You might as well try it out once just to see if it works for you. One more thing: you do have to spend a minimum of $30, which most of us will do anyway.
Finally, if you’re looking for new meal ideas, I have some suggestions for you. Now, I have more time to spend here or some other amazing summer adventure.♥
