Every couple needs to get away for an over-nighter a few times a year. This has become a thing we do that greatly enriches and blesses our marriage. Whether it’s for a birthday, anniversary, or just to be away from the kids for a night, it’s amazing how the short time can be rejuvenating! Here are our favorite hotels to stay at in the Atlanta area.
There are several things we love about this hotel. For one, the customer service from the staff is unmatched. They are so friendly & go above & beyond to make the stay wonderful. When our first room smelled like smoke, they immediately put us in a corner room with a balcony. It had panoramic views of the whole Atlanta area! Our room was nice, though just slightly dated. The pool was comfortably warm for a cool April night & had incredible views of the surrounding buildings. Another highlight is the garden. Though small, it’s beautiful & tranquil. We also used the gym for a few minutes & enjoyed the saunas (dry & steam).
Breakfast was in the beautiful Cassis Restaurant & we sat by doors that led out to a man-made rock waterfall. It was stunning & we had to ask if the rock was real because of how authentic it looks. The hotel is slightly dated, but the experience in the restaurants, the pool, and with the staff made it a memorable stay & a hotel to which we would love to return.
Previously The Palomar, this hotel is right in the heart of midtown. We’ve stayed here 2 times, and both were excellent! The rooms are modern & have great views of the city. Our favorite area though, is the 2nd floor outdoor patio area. Perfect to sit & read, talk, or sip on a drink. I LOVE the aesthetics & decor of the Community Smith restaurant. It has a modern industrial feel & delicious food. You can easily get a room & breakfast at the Community Smith for $199/night. Go see an exhibit at the High Museum or walk through the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
Funny story- on one visit, when we were sitting outside eating dinner at the Community Smith, a hipster-looking guy struggled to ride by on his bike holding his brown paper bag. As he bumped into the rail next to us, he says, “I CANNOT get a DUI on a bike!” We’ve laughed about that for years…
We actually stayed here as a family over Father’s Day weekend one year, but it is a great place for a couples’ retreat! The grounds are gorgeous, and perfect for nature lovers. They have several package options, including one with a short massage, or one with a horseback ride & picnic on a nature trail. The views of Lake Lanier are gorgeous! I love that they’ve updated the rooms to no longer have carpet. Perfect place if you don’t love the busyness of the city. A Bed & Breakfast package starts around $249/night.
